A minimally invasive procedure called laparoscopic cholecystectomy removes the gallbladder. When gallstones result in discomfort, inflammation, or infection, it benefits the patient. A few small incisions are made during the procedure, and most patients return home the same day and quickly resume their regular lives. Having a laparoscopic cholecystectomy involves having your gallbladder removed. On the right side of your abdomen, the surgeon makes a few little incisions (belly). A laparoscope is a narrow tube with a camera on the end that is inserted by the surgeon through a single incision. This displays a screen of your gallbladder. The gallbladder is subsequently extracted via a second, tiny incision. Comparing an open cholecystectomy to a laparoscopic one reveals less invasive procedures.
