Esophagectomy (Cancer Esophagus)
Dr. Ashish Sachan is one of the best surgeons in GI surgery and he has performed vast numbers of esophagectomy, a surgery performed to remove part of the esophagus. The esophagus is a tube that carries food from the throat to the stomach. Dr. Sachan has done many successful minimal invasive esophagectomies in which a portion of the food pipe is removed and a tube is formed with a stomach which is then connected to the remaining food pipe in the chest or neck. Patients with esophageal cancer have difficulty in swallowing food and significant weight loss. Standard esophagectomy required big incisions in the neck, chest, and abdomen to remove the food pipe and make the stomach tube. With minimal invasive esophagectomy, the same procedure can be completed with better vision, smaller incisions, early recovery, and fewer complications.
